  10. (Toronto, Ontario) - Exis Inc., developers of the popular shareware modem
  11. communications software Telix, today announced the sale and transfer of rights
  12. to the program source code, trademark name, and future sales of the program to
  13. former Exis Technical Support Manager, Jeff Woods, for undisclosed terms.  No
  14. reason was given for the sale, but Woods stated that both parties were in
  15. agreement that this was the best course of action to ensure the long-term
  16. growth and prosperity of the product.  The chief programmer of Telix releases
  17. to-date, Colin Sampaleanu, will remain with Exis, working on other, unrelated
  18. projects.

  20. Woods said Telix will be available from the new company, deltaComm Development,
  21. located in Cary, North Carolina, and support and upgrade pricing will continue
  22. to be offered to previous registered users.  A new minor upgrade to Telix will
  23. also be released before year's end, containing some of the more popular feature
  24. requests.  Some of these features, according to the new owner, are script
  25. 'learning' capability, easier learning curve for the powerful SALT scripting
  26. language, and the 'so-called' ANSI music capability. "Other ideas for this
  27. interim release are being discussed as well," said Woods.

  29. "Further development," he added, "will proceed very rapidly toward early
  30. release of anticipated major revisions.  The minor release is mainly to adjust
  31. the public to the new company behind the product, and to offer some of the
  32. features of the major revision a bit early."

  41.      o Telix 3.20 is being released to replace existing copies with
  42.        deltaComm copies, and to introduce some of the most frequently
  43.        requested features internally to Telix.
  44.  
  45.      o File transfer graphic representation bars have been added to all
  46.        protocols.  They now display a running presentation of exactly
  47.        how much a file transfer has left to go.
  48.  
  49.      o Transfer estimates are now based on the DCE rather than DTE connect
  50.        speed, making them much more reliable.  Your modem must return
  51.        the DCE speed as the first number after the connect string to
  52.        take advantage of this feature.

  54.      o Added a "script learning" feature to the registered version.
  55.  
  56.      o Telix can now Swap to EMS/XMS/disk on a DOS Shell as an option.

  58.      o Added a fifth external protocol, and added "Auto-download"
  59.        triggers for all external protocols.  If your external protocols
  60.        have strings that uniquely identify an incoming file, such as
  61.        HS/Link, you may now enjoy the automation of Zmodem on these
  62.        externals as well.

  64.      o Added "Reverse Terminal Emulation" for European users.  RTE
  65.        reverses the order of emulation and translate tables, so that 7
  66.        bit systems that use the left bracket key as a remap key may now
  67.        work properly with ANSI and VT terminals.

  69.      o Telix is forced to correct the version= line in TELIX.CNF if it
  70.        is incorrect.   This should make the check of this variable by
  71.        third party scripts much more reliable.

  73.      o The SALT dial function now returns the proper value when the
  74.        dialing is aborted by the user.

  76.      o Changed the character used by Telix when remote aborts transfers
  77.        to  thus avoiding placing a Control-Z into the capture file.

  79.      o Corrected Zmodem cps rates to reflect more accurate (faster) rates.

  81.      o Added /D command line parameter which lowers RTS on disk writes.
  82.        If you are getting a CRC error when your system writes to disk,
  83.        try using this option.

  85.      o Added a second, simple scripting language for non-programmers,
  86.        called SIMPLE.  SALT remains untouched -- SIMPLE is an English ->
  87.        SALT translator.  Complete docs on SIMPLE are enclosed.

  89.      o Added a BBS-calibre Host mode (doors, multiple message areas, etc)
  90.        formerly known as HOST 5.0 from Host Software Products.  It is
  91.        now an integral part of Telix.

  93.      o File tagging for uploading files -- up to 100 files per transfer
  94.        -- has been added and extended to external protocols as well.
